Cognitive learning theory:
Much of our teaching even in technology integration revolves
around behaviorist’s concept. This is because of how we structure our lessons
and give the policies and rules and guidelines for what students need to do to
do each assignment and how they will be able to progress to the next timeframe in
their educational classroom. We use many of the instruments that fall under
behaviorist concepts to test and evaluate the student. At times we include
small amounts of these cognitive and humanistic concepts intermixed with the
behaviorist concepts to change up the educational room. But much of what we do
falls under the behavioral window of concepts and ideas and how we present and
implement education our classroom. Much of what we do in the classroom is
centered around individualized work assignment. Will we bring in the cognitive
and humanistic concepts we start branching out into group work multiple
activities that multiple groups of students work on that presents a different
work atmosphere that most teachers do not feel comfortable with. The reality is
that all three can be used in the classroom if we plan well for what we're
trying to do. The problem is if we are going to implement technology in the
classroom, then we need to rely more on the cognitive concept and ideology to
improve critical thinking concepts to help the students to grow in their
ability to problem solve and develop new materials for their projects in the
classroom while using technology. We also implement the humanistic side in
allowing the students to develop and present their own ideas concepts based
around their own self-image for their projects so that they can develop and
show the real potential. Much of what we do with some of the new technology
takes a little from each area, the behaviorist concept is a rules and policies
we implement, the self-growth we want to see is from the humanistic side, and
the cognitivist side we want them to develop problem-solving and develop new
ideas that are beyond picture of what we normally do in the classroom.
